Diets and becoming healthy have become a popular trend in today's society. Sounds like a great trend right? However, like stated above, dieting only works for a small percentage of people. Here are the numbers to back up what I am saying. Over 80% of people that lose weight on a diet, gain back that weight! What is worse about these numbers is that most of these 80% of people that lose the weight, gain back more than they originally had!
Think about it this way; with dieting becoming more popular than ever, why is it Americans are at their highest levels of obesity ever recorded? If that does not make you wonder about dieting, including "fad" dieting, I don't know what will. Looking at this I realize that we are all susceptible to fall into this trend. I myself did fall into the dieting fad. Yes, it was great that I had lost 100 pounds. It's even better that I was all the way down to 178, however I am now sitting at 207 and struggling to get back down. In fact, I was just a week ago at 217. That is a total weight gain of almost 40 pounds! Luckily I started reading the right material and studying the right books. I am now studying to become a nutritionist one day, so I will keep you informed on how my progress is going.
This blog will be continued, I just want to leave you with this thought. If more than 80% of dieters gain back what they lost, and many more gain back more then what they started with... how do we stop this trend and become healthy the right way? I am determined to be able to answer that through my studying and I will share my knowledge with you.
